EAA Chapter 36, Hagerstown Aircraft Museum,
and HAS Fly-in October 3 & 4, 2009
We
enjoyed beautiful weather, over the weekend, for our
annual Fly-In.
We sold many breakfasts and lunches, the Museum displays
were very popular, the Terminal Dance was a big success,
and our welcoming committee was actively answering
questions and selling 50/50 chances. The Young
Eagles flights went very
well, with 5 pilots flying 89 Young Eagles.
We owe
huge debts to Tracey Potter, Mark Hissey, Joe Boyle,
Dick Carbaugh and
the kitchen staff from Cumberland, MD. Also, Sandy Hissey at the
gate, Ken Jones at the Chapter 36 table, Dean Truax
announcer, and Bob Scott with his valiant members who
flew Young Eagles. More specific thanks will be
forthcoming at our next meeting on October 7. Once again,
our loyal core of members answered the "call" and
stepped in to set-up, grill, serve, fly, display, greet,
park, and marshal.

Many
vintage aircraft pilots stopped by to display their
beautiful planes, which is always a treat for those
attending our Fly-Ins. The "Flying
Boxcar", (courtesy of the Hagerstown Aviation
Museum), was one featured static display. Also,
displays included Antique, Classic, Amateur- Built, and
Warbirds. In addition, there were examples of homebuilt
aircraft by members of the Experimental Aircraft
Association.

During
this two day event, Tracey Potter, President of Hagerstown
Aircraft Services, made his facilities available for a
look at the way aircraft are repaired, restored,
maintained and painted.
Tracey has an A-1 operation here on the
Airport, and we also express our heart-felt thanks for
his co-sponsorship of our Annual Fly-Ins. |

Good
Food is one of the
most pleasurable event
at Chapter 36 Fly-Ins.
The Chefs,
and their superb crew serve up some of the best
tasting food of any event in the area.
Thanks to Dick
Carbaugh and the excellent folks from Cumberland, who
keep the operation running smoothly. Also a special thanks
to all those who helped out in the food service area. |

The
Young Eagles Program is an important endeavor with
the members of Chapter 36. Coordinator
Bob Scott, with the help of
other chapter members,
flew 89 Young Eagles over the weekend.
Thanks, Bob, for a job well done, and a
special thanks to all Young Eagle pilots pictured
below.

The
main gate, and information table, were handled very
professionally by Sandy Hissey and Betty Wright (

It should also be noted, that both did an excellent
job with the 50/50 raffle. |

in keeping everyone informed as to the various aircraft
entering the display area.

The
Officers and members of EAA Chapter 36 wish to extend a
heartfelt thanks to Mark and Sandy Hissey, for another successful
fly-in.
Mark and Sandy would also like to express their deep appreciation to
all who helped with the set-up, clean up, and being there
to help where needed. |
