Minutes of the Hagerstown Regional Airport Safety/Security Council

The Hagerstown Regional Airport Safety/Security Council met on Thursday, October 15, 2009 at 15:00 in the Airport Conference Room.  

The meeting was attended by the following individuals: 

Ed Rakowski, HGR

John Easton, ALPA

David Pence, ATCT

Kent Schreiber, Martin’s Bakery
 

 Old Business:

 None

 New Business: 

·         Mr. Rakowski updated the members about the new security developments at the airport. He updated the members on the progress being made with the installation of the VPMS. The system is installed airport personnel have been trained.

 ·         Mr. Rakowski gave a presentation on winter weather preparedness.

 ·         Mr. Rakowski presented a module from a Sporty’s Pilot Shop video entitled Pilots Guide to Runway Safety – Controlled Airports.

Member Input

Mr. Schreiber reported that pilots are doing run-ups at the Southeast end of t-hangar building 8. This practice causes FOD to be blown into the hangars on the east side of bldg. 8. It is also a noise hazard to people working inside those hangars. 

Mr. Pence stated that the tower will monitor the situation. 

Mr. Rakowski stated that he will post a notice in the pilots lounge. 

The meeting adjourned at 16:00. The next scheduled meeting will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2010 at 15:00 in the airport conference room.
