EAA Chapter 36, Aircraft Museum,
and HAS Fly-in October 6 & 7
We enjoyed beautiful (
but warm ) HGR Fly-in weather over the weekend, after the fog and
President Bush vacated our flying space! We sold many breakfasts and
lunches, the Museum displays were very popular, the Terminal Dance was a
big success, and our welcoming committee was active answering questions
and selling 50/50 chances. The Young Eagles flights were somewhat
hampered by weather and TFR problems, but they bravely did their best!
We owe huge debts to
Tracey Potter, Joe Boyle, Jack Raun and his kithcen staff, Guy Schaeffer
and Ken Jones at the gate, and Bob Scott with his valiant members who
flew Young Eagles. More specific thanks will be forthcoming at our next
meeting on Nov 6. Once again, our loyal core of members answered the
"call" and stepped in to set-up, grill, serve, fly, display, greet,
park, and marshall. An even more dedicated, but quite small, group of
members and their spouses stayed to help clean up on Sunday evening.
Betty Wright, Secretary,
EAA Chapter 36.

Many vintage aircraft pilots
stopped by to display their beautiful planes, which is always a treat for those attending
our Fly-Ins. A beautiful DC-3 was the featured
static display, as well as the "Flying Boxcar" (far right,
courtesy of the Hagerstown Aviation Museum). Also displays included Antique, Classic, Amateur- Built, and Warbirds.
In addition, there were examples of homebuilt aircraft by members of the
Experimental Aircraft Association. |

During this two day event, Tracey
Potter, President of Hagerstown Aircraft
Services, made his facilities available for a look at the way aircraft are
repaired, restored, maintained and painted.
Tracey
has an A-1 operation here on the Airport, and we also
express our heart-felt thanks for his sponsorship of our Annual
Fly-Ins. |

Good
Food is one of
the most pleasurable event
at Chapter 36 Fly-Ins.
The Chefs,
and their superb crew serve up some of the best tasting food of any event in the area.
Thanks to Jack Raun, Jerry and
Terry Sexton, and Betty Wright, who all keep the operation running
smoothly. Also a special thanks to all those who helped out in the
food service area. |

The Young Eagles Program is an
important endeavor with the members of Chapter 36. Coordinator
Bob Scott, with the help of
other chapter members,
flew 113 Young Eagles over the weekend.
Thanks, Bob, for a job well done, and a special
thanks to all Young Eagle pilots pictured below. |

The
Officers and members of EAA Chapter 36 wish to extend a heartfelt thanks
to Joe Boyle, for his commitment and tireless efforts, in making this yet
another successful fly-in.
Joe would also like to express his deep appreciation to all who helped
with the set-up, clean up, and being there to help where needed. |
